Webster's defines "alter ego" as 1. "Another side of oneself; a second self"; or 2. "An intimate friend or constant companion." Post an image that you take, make or find that represents your alter ego...and tag it "carleton_altered_egos."

"Among Surrealist techniques exploiting the mystique of accident was a kind of collective collage of words or images called the cadavre exquis (exquisite corpse). Based on an old parlor game, it was played by several people, each of whom would write a phrase on a sheet of paper, fold the paper to conceal part of it, and pass it on to the next player for his contribution." [From http://www.exquisitecorpse.com/definition.html]
The idea of an exquisite corpse is to combine several foreign and seemingly unrelated elements into one, unified by their thematic coming together. This is the premise of the next Flickr assignment.
Find (on Flickr or the web) or create an image that you believe embodies some aspect of our professor, John Schott. There are no rules for this challenge with the exception that John himself may not appear at all in your photo. The image may come from anywhere, although if it is found please identify either the Flickr author or website address in your comments.
Please tag your image "carletonwemedia" and "johnsexquisitecorpse." By tagging it carletonwemedia it will be in that tag for all Flickr assignments done for this corpse, and by tagging it johnsexquisitecorpse you can search that tag to see the final result of our combined efforts to create John's Exquisite Corpse.

Find a picture on Flickr that really takes you back to one of your happiest childhood memories....(make sure to credit where it came from!) Tag it "wmchmemories" (that's we media childhood memories for those of you keeping score at home) and "carletonwemedia."

Fnd a picture on Flickr, or upload one from your own personal archives, that has two things that truly don't belong together. By this I mean some sort of creative shot that seems absurd simply due to the abstract contents of it. For example, this might be a picture of a flower growing in a concrete parking lot—something of this random nature. Tag your photo "carletonwemedia" so that it appears with the rest of the assignments and also tag it "absurdwemedia" so that it will be placed in a seperate group as well. Good luck and be creative....
Oh, and if you do 'borrow' from someone else be sure to mention who they are in your photo description.

1) Play around with the Captioner. Either add captions to one of the pictures that I attached or find your own picture and add captions. Put them on Flickr as "wemediacaptions." A prize for the best caption, kids. 2) Put a link to your flickr pictures on your blog - or put the pics themselves on. Since the site is really slow to get most of our photos up, let's put them on our blogs so we can all see them. This plug-in looks like it would help.

This is the 2nd moment I have run into your website within the last couple weeks. Seems as if I ought to take note of it.
